As I lay in bed in the early hours of the morning trying to convince my ever so active brain to shut the hell up so I can go back to sleep a random thought crossed my mind….BLOG, I should start a blog. I mean everyone is doing it, so why not me….right? Honestly for as technically savvy as I like to tell myself I am up until recently I really couldn’t tell you what a “blog” exactly is. If I didn’t know any better I might have guessed that it is some sort of crude bodily function but from what I can gather (thank you Google) it is a compilation of stories or thoughts etc. shared by some random person to whoever the hell cares to listen, which in my case is likely no one. But for some odd reason though it just feels right, and a wise person once said, if it feels good, DO IT….and for all intensive purposes (a.k.a. to make myself feel better) I am just going to go ahead and pretend that the whole world is listening. Not that I would ever want anyone to realize I am even more weird than I appear to be in normal day-to-day life or that I would imagine that anyone gives two shits about what goes on in the “World of Jayme” (a term coined by my beautiful mother to explain my state of mind where only I exist, and my belief that if everyone lived by the laws in the World of Jayme the real world would be a much better place…my home sweet home) but maybe for a little out of the ordinary brain exercise. Stepping out of the old box and taking some time to reflect on and make light of my routine thoughts and experiences…yep, I can literally feel myself aging after that last statement.
I’ll make it a disclaimer that I do feel blessed to be running circles in this M-F hamster wheel in rough times like these but when your brain functions like Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory sometimes running the same circular path day in and day out can make you dizzy, nauseous and in the mood to kick little…well you get the point. Plus I like to write, I have come to the realization that I possess a bite sized (maybe it’s more of a nibble than a bite) talent to put my thoughts into words (toot! toot!) but up until now I have primarily used it for business correspondence and to tell people how I really feel about them, in the nicest way possible of course. It’s weird, I never really liked to write throughout high school and most of college but I think now the difference is I can talk and write about whatever the hell I damn well please, run on my sentences for days, say to hell with spelling and punctuation and not have to worry about someone scribbling red ink all over my precious work. Its liberation at it’s finest!!
This isn’t the first time I have pondered writing a blog, I am constantly having some pretty odd things go on in my life that should be documented for future generations and for when me and my pals become geriatrics but typically the details are ummmmm…hazy and frankly in the past I had more important shit to do. Now however, life’s responsibilities and changes have slowed me down a bit and after being inspired by other blogs I enjoy reading (shout out to Gwenny!) I have come to the conclusion that I can be a little more productive on my downtime. Let’s face it, there is only so much online shopping and Facebook creeping (don’t act like you have never done it) a girl and do in one work day without going broke and brain dead, and frankly, I am running out of extra dollars and brain cells.
So I guess that means you are all in luck….as Charlie’s grandpa once sang a bitchen song about having a Golden Ticket, this time it is all yours. Can’t really tell you what the ticket is to yet, and no, you aren’t going to get any free candy but it is surely to be entertaining or at least off the wall enough to help you stop questioning your own sanity because you are too busy questioning mine…you can thank me later.
